The 35th winner of the 1000 Guineas, held on Thursday 25th April 1848 over the Ditch Mile, was Canezou (5/1), a chestnut filly by Melbourne out of Madame Pelerine, owned by Lord Stanley. The winner won by 1/2 a length, with a neck back to the third. A field of 9 runners contested the race which was worth £1,450 (Equivalent to £138,800 in 2017)
